The flagship Venezuelan trip. Fly into Canaima, settle at a lagoon camp, paddle to Salto el Sapo and walk behind the curtain, then take a 4-hour curiara journey upriver to base camp for the world's tallest waterfall (979 m). Salto Ángel runs strongest in the wet season (June–October). Five days lets you add a Gran Sabana 4×4 day from Canaima village. The park is UNESCO-listed (1994) and one of only ~30 sites worldwide meeting all four natural criteria. Permits and guides are arranged by the lodge.
Caveat: Canaima National Park is a UNESCO WHS (Site 701, inscribed 1994). Access is by air only; trips must be booked through Pemón-community-affiliated operators. The IUCN/UNESCO 2017 assessment flagged "significant concern" re: mining pressure — visit responsibly.
