Margarita unhurried, plus a day in slow-paced Isla de Coche. Mix surf at Parguito, kitesurfing at El Yaque (one of the most consistent windsurfing/kitesurfing spots in the Caribbean), the colonial Castillo de Santa Rosa, and a ferry day to Coche's deserted beaches. Margarita has been Puerto Libre since 1974, so factor in time and pesos for duty-free chocolate, rum, and ron añejo. Best Dec–Apr or Jul–Aug. Skip Macanao after dark.
