For repeat travellers or culture-first first-timers. Two nights Caracas, two nights Choroní for cacao and tambores, one night in Barquisimeto for Tamunangue (Día de San Antonio, June) and the Barquisimeto Sinfónica heritage, then four nights in Mérida for the Andes. The lateral route between Choroní and Barquisimeto runs through Carora — the country's underrated wine + queso country. Mostly road; one internal flight at the end.
Best months: Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr.
