Julio Maragall
Julio Maragall was born in Barcelona in 1936 and moved to Venezuela with his family at the age of three, after his father, the sculptor Ernest Maragall, went into exile. He trained in architecture at Cornell University in the United States, graduating in 1966, and began his professional life in New York before returning to Venezuela.
Back in Caracas he opened his own practice, Maragall & Asociados, in 1972, and in the same year began teaching architectural design at Universidad Simón Bolívar. Alongside architecture he has worked as a sculptor and painter, carrying on a family tradition in the arts.
