The great January fair of the Venezuelan Andes — San Cristóbal fills for weeks with concerts, bullfights, expos and the international cycling race that crowns it.
The Feria Internacional de San Sebastián (FISS) is one of the largest fairs in Venezuela and the defining event of San Cristóbal’s year. Held through much of January in honour of the city’s patron saint, it turns the Andean capital of Táchira into a weeks-long celebration.
The programme is broad: live music and concerts, agricultural and industrial expos, a bullfighting season, parades and the Vuelta al Táchira cycling race that draws teams from across the Americas. The 61st edition ran across January 2026 and, by organiser accounts, drew crowds in the region of a million visitors.
It is a fair in the fullest Andean sense — commerce, faith, sport and music at once, and a window into a corner of Venezuela most foreign visitors never reach.
