Venezuelan cities are contradictions lived at full volume — freeways that end abruptly, colonial squares packed at midnight, food scenes that could compete with any major metropolis. They're not the reason most people come to Venezuela, but they're often what visitors remember most vividly.

Caracas sits in a narrow valley at 900 metres, with El Ávila mountain forming an improbable green wall behind every rooftop. The city's energy is kinetic: jazz bars in Altamira, world-class contemporary art in Chacao, the chaotic sensory overload of Mercado de Chacao on a Saturday morning.

Mérida offers a different rhythm — a university city at 1,625 metres where students and outdoor guides share the same streets, and Heladería Coromoto on Avenida 3 holds the Guinness World Record with 860+ recorded ice cream flavours (a rotating selection is served on any given day).
