The Paradura del Niño is a beloved Andean tradition that unfolds through the Epiphany season across the towns and villages of Mérida. Families "stand up" the figure of the Christ child from the nativity, carry it in candlelit procession and celebrate with music, verse and shared food.
Each gathering is part devotion, part community feast — violins, cuatro and song accompanying the ritual, followed by hot chocolate, bizcochuelo and warm hospitality against the mountain cold.
